Here's how to do a graduation display properly.
Start With the Class Year
The 2026 is the anchor. Make it the biggest thing in the yard — bigger than the name, bigger than anything. It's what reads from the road, it's what dates the photo forever, and it's what every other grad's family will notice as they drive by.
Then the Name
Their full first name in oversized letters. Not a nickname, not initials. This is the one day their name gets to be the headline.
Then the School Colors
This is what separates a generic display from one that belongs to your grad. We match flair to the school:
- Southern Regional — a huge share of what we set up in Manahawkin and Stafford
- Pinelands Regional
- Barnegat High School
- Lacey Township High School
- Any college — coming home in May with a degree deserves a yard, too

Display Ideas That Land
- The classic: giant 2026 + name + "Congrats Grad" + caps and stars in school colors.
- The next chapter: add the college they're headed to. Parents love this one. So do neighbors, who then know where to send the card.
- The photo backdrop: if the party's at the house, build the display where the cap-toss photo will happen. It becomes the backdrop for the entire day.
- The kindergarten grad: moving up to first grade is a real milestone. Small human, big display. It's very funny and very sweet.
- The surprise walk-out: have it up before they leave for the ceremony — the night before, or early that morning. Nothing sets the tone like that.
- The custom portrait: a hand-illustrated cartoon portrait of the grad in the center of the display. They keep it long after everything else comes down.
The Timing Problem Nobody Plans For
Here's the honest warning: May and June are the only time of year we regularly have to turn people away.
Every graduating family in Ocean County wants the same three weekends. If your grad's ceremony is in the spring, book three to four weeks out. We've had people call the Tuesday before graduation and we've had to say no, which we hate.
If you're reading this in the winter — book now. Seriously.
Party Weekend? Extend It.
Ceremony Friday, party Sunday? Add an extra day for $25 and keep the display up through the weekend. It marks the house for arriving guests and doubles as the photo spot.
